Driving out of Leeds at night, on a common route home from our hospital, there are rainbows, drawn by kids and being displayed on the huge LED advertising boards that are placed along the sides of the flyover to the M1.
They make my eyes fill up every night. I drive past at dusk, the pink-orange sunset glow all around me. Like Leeds has had it’s Readybrek! And so I start to dejunk my head, playing my music loud and enjoying the unusually open road.
As a kid, there was never anything with my name already written on 🤷🏼♀️. I think I got this mug when I was about 6. My Mom and Dad ordered it for me and I was delighted to have something with my name emblazoned upon it! It’s from Purbeck Ceramics, who like many English potteries, are sadly gone. So here’s a photo of Big Bertie and I. Taking breakfast in the garden on my day off. Of course, being a cat, it’s always his day off.
All seems very poignant at the moment, and it’s the perfect size for my morning coffee.
