We Can Do Better

The actual food list on the right, recommended by our government for a kid, for a week. Not good enough.

What you can do: educate yourself to vote wisely for those who don’t have the voice, challenge yourself and your own views, research for yourself rather than listening to opinions of people who live fearfully for their own ego, lobby your MP, share on social media and – only if you have the means – donate food or money to your local food banks or charities, to organisations like @trusselltrust @realjunkfood @sheltercharity and many more who all have donation links on their websites. It’s a better buzz than online shopping.

There are very good people already doing amazing work, let’s support them 🤗

Our government had the gall to give us “Austerity Measures” for almost a decade, telling us the cuts to social and education funding were for our benefit, expecting families who were already struggling to make a sacrifice so they could conserve and gain wealth, like a modern Mr Bumble in Oliver Twist.

While simultaneously fuelling bigoted opinion that has led to division after division, whispering to people that they should be afraid of other people taking things from them, “our” jobs, “our” houses, our this, our that. We are a country made of immigrants thought history. There are no true English people. Romans, Danes, Normans…

A pandemic gives us a golden opportunity to come together, but if kids can’t even eat enough, if parents and families are struggling so much, how can we expect people to do that? The pressure must be unbearable for so, so many families.

Go ahead and vote Conservative if you do your research and think that’s the best choice, but know that this image is an example of who they really are.

We can be better than this, I am optimistic we can be so much better. I am sure of it ❤️
